The invention relates to devices for determining electrical capacitance. The devices are characterized in particular by the fact that the electrical capacitance between two measuring electrodes can be measured independently of the grounding properties. For this purpose, two measuring electrodes are arranged spaced apart side by side. Each of the measuring electrodes is connected to a grounded alternating voltage source, wherein the output voltages of the alternating voltage sources are inverted or differential to each other and the flowing current is a measure for determining the electrical capacitance between the measuring electrodes.
