Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention describes a specialized hydraulic separator (or 'hydraulic switch') for heating and cooling systems. The separator is positioned between the generator (heat/cold source) and consumer (building or process) circuits. It features a flow chamber with specially-designed, partially open, curved tubes that direct fluid flows. These elements improve flow behavior, efficiently separate the supply and return streams, and significantly reduce unwanted mixing and pressure losses, even when accommodating large fluid flows.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Commercial or residential heating systems, where multiple circuits need to be thermally and hydraulically separated
  • Industrial cooling systems requiring efficient separation between chillers and consumer loops
  • Large building HVAC systems requiring stable temperature control and hydraulic decoupling
  • District heating or cooling networks integrating several supply and consumption circuits
  • Retrofitting or upgrading energy systems to improve flow dynamics and system efficiency

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Minimizes undesirable temperature mixing between supply and return flows, leading to more accurate temperature control
  • Reduces pressure loss in the system, improving energy efficiency and reducing pump requirements
  • Ensures efficient separation even when large volume flows are present, suitable for both small and large installations
  • Enhances overall system effectiveness by improving hydraulic decoupling between generator and consumer circuits
  • Supports flexible system design and is compatible with both heating and cooling fluids
  • Reduces operational costs by minimizing inefficiencies and maintaining planned temperature levels

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a hydraulic switch for heating and/or cooling systems, which hydraulic switch is arranged between at least one generator circuit (K1) and at least one consumer circuit (K2) and has a switch housing (2), the longitudinal axis (A) of which runs substantially vertically when the switch (1) is in the installed state and the interior of which has a chamber (3) for a temperature carrier fluid, wherein on the switch housing (2) at least one first feed line (4) leads to the generator circuit and at least one first return line (5) leads to the generator circuit (K1), and at least one second feed line (6) and one second return line (7) can be connected to the consumer circuit (K2), wherein between the first feed line (4) and the second feed line (6) there is arranged a first flow-guiding element (8) extending in the flow direction, and between the first return line (5) and the second return line (7) there is arranged a second flow-guiding element (9) extending in the flow direction, wherein the first and the second flow-guiding elements (8, 9) are in each case in the form of a circumferentially open bent tube with an opening angle (a) which ensures the compensation of a large volume flow.
