Variable Sun Protection with Intermediate Space Ventilation
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a sun protection device for windows or glass surfaces that features an interior shading system combined with a ventilation system. The shading system can change its absorbing or reflecting properties either mechanically (by moving or rotating surfaces with different absorption/reflection capabilities) or via special materials that react to light or heat (such as electrochromic or thermochromic coatings). The ventilation system is designed to remove warm air from the space between the shade and the glass, improving overall performance.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Residential and commercial building windows to improve energy efficiency.
- Office buildings requiring advanced sun and heat control.
- Greenhouses for optimized sunlight and temperature management.
- Smart homes with automated shading and ventilation systems.
- Public facilities where comfort and energy savings are priorities.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Improved indoor temperature regulation and comfort.
- Enhanced energy efficiency by reducing heating and cooling loads.
- Flexible sun and heat protection adapting to environmental conditions.
- Reduction of overheating at window surfaces.
- Potentially improved building sustainability and lower energy costs.

Patent Abstract
An optimized sun protection device (100) for a glazing (10) is proposed, comprising- a hanging device (11), which can be arranged on the interior side in front of the glazing (10) and which separates a room side (B) and a glazing side (A) of the sun protection device (100) from one another, and- a ventilation device (14), which is designed such that it removes air (15a) from an area on the glass pane side (A) of the sun protection device (100),wherein either- the hanging device (11) comprises a first hanging surface (11a) and a second hanging surface (11b), wherein the first hanging surface (11a) has a higher absorption capacity and/or a lower reflection capacity for incident solar radiation (12) compared to the second hanging surface (11b), and the sun protection device (100) has a drive device (13), to which the hanging device (11) is attached and which is designed for extending and retracting the first and second hanging surfaces (11a, 11b), such that either the first hanging surface (11a) or the second hanging surface (11b) is selectively oriented toward the glazing side (A),or- the hanging device (11) is designed to be electrochromic and/or thermochromic, so that an absorption capacity and/or a reflection capacity of a hanging surface of the hanging device (11) facing the glass pane side (A) is controllable or adjustable.
