Method for Investigating Heat Losses of District Heating Pipelines
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a method for investigating the heat losses in district heating pipes. The procedure involves placing a heat source inside the pipe at specific measurement points, applying a known heat flow, measuring the resulting temperature increase of the pipe wall using sensors, and determining the heat loss at each position based on the measured data.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Monitoring and diagnosing heat loss in urban district heating networks
- Targeted maintenance and repair of district heating pipelines
- Quality assurance during installation of new district heating systems
- Retrofitting or upgrading existing heat distribution infrastructure
- Energy efficiency optimization for large building or industrial heat grid operators
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Allows precise measurement of heat loss at specific points along a pipeline
- Enables early detection of insulation failures or pipe degradation
- Improves energy efficiency by identifying areas of high heat loss
- Reduces operational costs by supporting targeted maintenance
- Provides objective data for infrastructure upgrade decisions

Patent Abstract
Method for investigating heat losses of district heating lines, wherein a. a heat source is positioned in the district heating line at one or more measurement positions, b. a known heat flow is emitted from the heat source at the respective measurement position, c. the thereby elevated temperature of the wall of a medium pipe of the district heating line is measured with at least one temperature sensor, d. and from the emitted heat flow and/or the temperature measurements a heat loss measure for all measurement positions is determined.
