Telegram Splitting Transmission Method for Bi-Directional Networks
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a method and system for splitting a data packet (telegram) into multiple smaller packets that are transmitted across a bidirectional communication network at different times or frequencies. The system can monitor for interference or competing transmissions in the network and dynamically adjust which sub-packets are transmitted, delayed, or even omitted. Thanks to channel encoding, only a subset of all transmitted sub-packets is needed to reconstruct the original data, increasing reliability and network efficiency, especially under noisy or congested channel conditions.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Wireless sensor networks where large numbers of devices communicate in interference-prone environments (e.g., industrial IoT, smart grids).
- RFID systems to improve transmission reliability where there are many tags and possible collisions.
- Battery-powered or energy-harvesting devices (e.g., remote environmental sensors) that need to conserve energy and optimize channel use.
- Advanced telemetry systems in remote monitoring or control applications (e.g., structural health monitoring, agricultural monitoring).
- Smart home or building automation networks with many wireless nodes sharing limited spectrum.
- Communications for emergency alert systems where resilience against interference is critical.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Increases the reliability of data transmission in channels affected by interference or congestion, as only a portion of packets needs to be received to reconstruct the original message.
- Improves network efficiency by allowing other packets (to the same or different nodes) to be transmitted during the waiting times/gaps between split packet transmissions.
- Reduces the likelihood and impact of packet collisions in multi-user environments.
- Allows for dynamic adaptation to external conditions—including interference, regulatory constraints, or priority packets—leading to more robust operations.
- Supports energy-saving in battery or energy-harvesting systems by minimizing unnecessary transmissions and leveraging longer pauses between sub-packets.
- Enables simultaneous, overlapping communication between multiple network participants—both for sending and receiving—thereby supporting higher traffic and dense deployment.

Patent Abstract
Exemplary embodiments relate to a data transmitter. The data transmitter comprises a device for generating transmission data packets, the device being designed to split a first data packet intended for a first data receiver into multiple transmission data packets, each of the transmission data packets intended for the first data receiver being shorter than the first data packet. The data transmitter also comprises a device for transmitting data packets, the device being designed to transmit the transmission data packets intended for the first data receiver at time intervals via a communications channel. The device for transmitting data packets can be designed: - to transmit at least one other transmission data packet to the first data receiver or to a second data receiver in the time intervals between the multiple transmission data packets intended for the first data receiver; or - not to transmit, to transmit only partially, or to transmit at a later time a transmission data packet of the multiple data packets that is awaiting transmission, if another transmission data packet is awaiting transmission at the time of transmission of the aforementioned transmission data packet; or - not to transmit, to transmit only partially, or to transmit at a later time a transmission data packet of the multiple data packets that is awaiting transmission, in accordance with external conditions; or - not to transmit, to transmit only partially, or to transmit at a later time via the communications channel a transmission data packet of the multiple data packets that is awaiting transmission, if interference or a transmission by another data transmitter is identified at the time of transmission of the data packet.
