Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This patent describes an advanced 3D printing system with a specialized temperature control mechanism for the material (printing fluid) being printed. The system features cartridge containers and fluid lines for dispensing the printing material, all encased in dedicated channels through which a temperature-control medium flows. This setup ensures precise temperature management of the printing fluid from storage to print head, which is especially critical when working with temperature-sensitive materials, such as biological inks (bio-inks) used in medical or tissue engineering applications. The design also supports multiple cartridges and print heads, enabling multi-material printing and continuous operation.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Bioprinting of tissues and organs for regenerative medicine and research.
  • Manufacturing implants and prosthetics using bio-compatible or temperature-sensitive materials.
  • Rapid prototyping of products with complex geometries requiring precise temperature management of the printing medium.
  • Production of small batch plastic parts or customized components.
  • Academic research in material science and bioengineering that utilizes temperature-sensitive hydrogels or cell-laden inks.
  • Development of composite materials by combining different temperature-controlled components during printing.

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Maintains stable and optimal temperature of printing fluids throughout the printing process, preventing premature solidification or undesired reactions.
  • Enables precise and repeatable printing of temperature-sensitive materials such as biological inks, expanding capabilities in bioprinting and medical applications.
  • Supports multi-material and multi-component printing through multiple independently controlled cartridges and channels.
  • Reduces the risk of blockages or defects due to improved temperature management, resulting in higher print quality and reliability.
  • Modular system design allows for easy integration of additional sensors, controllers, and specialized printheads for different applications.
  • Facilitates continuous operation by enabling multiple cartridges, minimizing interruptions for fluid replacement or system maintenance.

Patent Abstract

The invention relates to a 3D printing system (1). This has a first cartridge container (2) for reversibly receiving a first cartridge which holds printing fluid for 3D printing, and has a print head (10) with an outflow opening. The 3D printing system (1) further has a first fluid line (14), which connects the first cartridge container (2) to the print head (10) to feed printing fluid to the print head (10). In addition, the 3D printing system (1) has a first temperature-control channel (20), which encases the first cartridge container (2) and the first fluid line (14) externally, and which is passed through, in the intended state of use, by a temperature-control medium.
