Implantat (1, 7, 12, 17, 22), das zur Substitution der Funktion eines Schließmuskels in ein Hohlorgan eines Patienten implantierbar ist und eine Durchgangsöffnung (5, 20) zum Abführen von Körperflüssigkeit sowie eine Funktionseinheit zum Öffnen oder Schließen der Durchgangsöffnung (5, 20) aufweist, wobei das Implantat (1, 7, 12, 17, 22) ein Grundmodul (3, 13, 18, 23) umfasst, das zum dauerhaften Verbleib in dem Hohlorgan vorgesehen ist, sowie wenigstens ein Wechselmodul (4, 14, 19, 24), wobei das Grundmodul (3, 13, 18, 23) und das wenigstens eine Wechselmodul (4, 14, 19, 24) jeweils eine Schnittstelle zum Herstellen einer lösbaren formschlüssigen und/oder kraftschlüssigen Verbindung mit dem jeweiligen anderen Modul aufweisen. Daneben wird ein Verfahren für den Betrieb des Implantats (1, 7, 12, 17, 22) beschrieben.
