Lamp socket for e.g. motor vehicle headlamp, has base section in region adjacent to lamp bulb and made from higher melting plastic, and lower section of plastic socket part in region of mechanical stress made from lower melting plastic
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention describes a specialized lamp socket, particularly useful for vehicle headlamps. The socket is designed with different types of plastics for different regions: a high melting point plastic near the bulb to withstand heat, and a lower melting point plastic in areas subject to mechanical stress. It also includes a sealing component to enhance durability and prevent contamination.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Headlamp sockets in automobiles and motorcycles
- Sockets for high-intensity lamps in industrial lighting
- Lighting fixtures for environments exposed to high heat
- Sockets for outdoor or rugged lighting applications requiring secure sealing
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Improved heat resistance near the bulb extends product life and safety.
- Enhanced mechanical strength in stress regions reduces risk of breakage or failure.
- Effective sealing helps prevent entry of dust, moisture, and contaminants.
- Optimized material usage lowers manufacturing costs and enhances performance.

Patent Abstract
The socket has a plastic socket part (4), a base section (60) made from a higher melting plastic in a region adjacent to a lamp bulb, and a lower section (62) of a socket part made from a lower melting plastic in a region of mechanical stress. Melting points of higher and lower melting plastics are above and below 260 degree centigrade, respectively. A seal section (64) made from a polymer material has a seal effect. A contact-tab-sealing section (70) is provided between a contact tab (12) and the section (60) or section (62). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a lamp socket.
