Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention relates to a personal care device with a treatment head (such as an epilator, shaver, or toothbrush) that can pivot relative to the device body. The core innovation is a mechanism where a pin and cam system, biased by a spring, provides a controlled resistance and return force when the treatment head pivots. As the pivoting angle increases, the spring force increases, ensuring the head returns smoothly to a defined rest position and enhancing feedback and control during use.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Electric shavers or trimmers with flexible heads for better facial contour following.
  • Epilators with movable heads for improved skin contact and comfort.
  • Electric or manual toothbrushes with pivotable brush heads to reach different areas of the mouth.
  • Facial cleansing brushes or skin massagers that adjust to facial curves.
  • Personal grooming devices for hair removal or styling with adaptive heads.

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Improved ergonomic comfort: The pivotable head adapts to body contours, reducing strain for users.
  • Better treatment effectiveness: Maintains optimal contact with skin or teeth during movement.
  • Enhanced user feedback: The spring and cam system gives users tactile feedback when the head pivots, improving control.
  • Reduced accidental over-pivoting: Built-in return force and defined maximum angles help prevent device misuse or damage.
  • Versatile application: The mechanism is adaptable to various personal care devices and head types.

Patent Abstract

The present disclosure is concerned with a personal care device with a treatment head being pivot-mounted around a pivot axis with respect to a body of the personal care device, the personal care device having a pin having a pin head, the pin being provided at one of the treatment head or body, a cam element having a cam surface being provided at the other one of the treatment head or body, a spring element biasing the pin head and the cam surface against each other, wherein the pin head is in contact with the cam surface and the cam surface is shaped such that it defines a rest position at which the biasing spring force provided by the spring element with which the pin head and the cam surface are pushed against each other has a non-zero minimum value, and wherein a pivoting of the head around the pivot axis causes the pin head to move along the cam surface and the cam surface is further shaped such that the spring force pushing the pin head and the cam surface against each other increases with increasing pivoting angle.
