Patent Abstract

Reactor for releasing hydrogen from a hydrogen carrying liquid compound, comprises a pressure- and temperature-resistant reactor vessel, in which at least one function for providing hydrogen is executable, comprising at least one body containing a metallic support structure, on which a solid and highly porous coating is applied, which contains catalytically active substances for releasing hydrogen from the hydrogen carrying liquid compounds. An independent claim is also included for at least proportionally supplying a fuel-burning load with hydrogen into a combustion chamber, preferably an internal combustion engine or fuel cells of a motor vehicle, using the above mentioned reactor, where the reactor supplies the hydrogen carrying compound from a first storage tank via a supply line and a dehydrated compound derived from the reactor via a discharge line to a second storage tank, at high temperature and low pressure, where the reactor supplies the load with hydrogen to the combustion chamber via a connecting line.
