Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention describes a method and device for generating three-dimensional (3D) images from two-dimensional (2D) endo-microscopic images. By capturing multiple 2D images from different layers along the optical axis of an endo-microscope and processing them with specialized digital and radiological techniques, a 3D data set is reconstructed. This allows for the identification and visualization of characteristic anatomical structures within the patient.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Medical diagnostics, especially endoscopic examinations where internal body tissues need detailed visualization
  • Preoperative planning for surgeries by providing 3D imaging of tissue structures
  • Guided biopsies or minimally invasive procedures using precise 3D maps of internal organs
  • Educational tools for teaching medical students or training endoscopists
  • Research in pathology or biology requiring detailed tissue structure analysis

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Improved detection and localization of anatomical structures or abnormalities in a minimally invasive way
  • Enhanced accuracy in diagnostics and treatment planning due to 3D visualization
  • Reduction of errors linked to interpretation of 2D images
  • Better patient outcomes through precise targeting during procedures
  • Potentially lower radiation exposure compared to traditional radiological 3D imaging technologies

Patent Abstract

The method involves receiving and storing two-dimensional (2D)-image data set from different object layers (8a, 8b) lying toward an optical axis (11) of an endo-microscope (2) one behind other in mutual distances. A three-dimensional (3D)-image data set is reconstructed at a radiological 3D work station using 3D radiology process. The 3D-image data set is segmented using digital image processing process, and presence of characteristic structures is searched. A found structure is reproduced in a standardized view in the 2D- image data set for the object layers. An independent claim is also included for a device for generating an endo-microscopic image data set.
