Lamp Socket for an Electric Lamp
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
The patent describes a lamp socket, particularly for automotive headlights, made from a combination of different plastics. It uses a high-melting, temperature-resistant plastic near the lamp bulb where temperatures are highest, and a lower-melting plastic in regions subjected to mechanical stress. Optionally, a third polymer with sealing properties can be added to further improve sealing. The combination reduces the use of expensive high-temperature materials while improving mechanical durability and simplifying manufacturing processes.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Automotive headlamp sockets for cars, trucks, and motorcycles
- Socket components for other high-temperature or mechanically stressed lighting applications
- Sockets for industrial or commercial lighting where durability and cost-effectiveness are important
- Any electric lamp socket design requiring a combination of heat resistance, mechanical strength, and sealing
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Cost savings by minimizing use of expensive high-temperature plastics
- Improved mechanical strength and longer service life in stressed areas
- Enhanced thermal resistance near the lamp bulb to prevent damage from heat
- Simplified, integrated manufacturing process with possibilities for better sealing and fewer assembly steps
- Greater design flexibility with tailored material properties for different socket regions

Patent Abstract
A lamp socket for an electric lamp, in particular, for a motor vehicle headlamp with a plastic socket part is disclosed, with a first section made from a higher meting plastic in a region adjacent to the lamp bulb and a second section made from a lower melting plastic in a region of mechanical stress. Savings can thus be made in cost-intensive higher melting plastics whilst at the same time guaranteeing a longer service life in the region of mechanical stress.
