Method and Apparatus for Obtaining Spectrum Coefficients for a Replacement Frame of an Audio Signal, Audio Decoder, Audio Receiver and System for Transmitting Audio Signals
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a method and apparatus for obtaining spectral coefficients for a replacement frame in an audio signal. It works by identifying tonal components in previous frames and predicting spectral coefficients for these tonal components and their surroundings, while using either unpredicted or past coefficients for non-tonal components. This approach improves the generation of replacement audio frames, which is useful in scenarios like audio decoding or error concealment.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Audio streaming services that need to mask or repair lost or corrupted audio frames
- Digital audio decoders for devices like smartphones, smart speakers, or car infotainment systems
- Telecommunications systems dealing with packet loss during audio transmission
- Hearing aids or audio processing devices requiring robust transmission and playback
- Music and voice compression codecs that need to reconstruct missing segments
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Improves audio quality when portions of an audio signal are lost or corrupted
- Enhances robustness of audio transmission in unreliable networks by more accurately reconstructing missing data
- Reduces audible artifacts and maintains natural sound by distinguishing between tonal and non-tonal components
- Enables smoother user experiences in streaming, communications, and audio playback devices
- Can be integrated into existing audio codec and transmission systems for improved error concealment

Patent Abstract
