Method for digital summation of digital subtraction angiography images of blood vessel for e.g. treatment of e.g. aneurysms, in patient's brain, involves obtaining final image by digital summation of images of inflow phase
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a method for processing digital subtraction angiography (DSA) images, particularly for applications such as diagnosing or treating conditions like brain aneurysms. The technique involves classifying and summing specific DSA images from the inflow phase, using machine learning classifiers to determine the relevant images. The result is a clearer, final image that highlights blood vessels, making diagnosis and treatment planning easier. The system may be implemented in X-ray imaging devices with display units.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Diagnosing and planning the treatment of brain aneurysms using clearer DSA images
- Assisting surgeons with preoperative and intraoperative imaging for vascular procedures
- Improving detection and analysis of other vascular diseases via enhanced DSA imagery
- Integrating into X-ray imaging equipment for automated, optimized DSA image selection and display
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Provides clearer and more informative images of blood vessels for medical professionals
- Reduces image noise and improves diagnostic accuracy in angiography
- Automates the process of DSA image selection and combination, saving time and reducing manual error
- Facilitates better treatment planning and monitoring for vascular diseases, especially in delicate organs such as the brain

Patent Abstract
The method involves dividing a digital subtraction angiography (DSA) image series (1) into two classes (13), where the classes are assigned to a background phase (5), an inflow phase (6) and/or a perfusion phase (7) of the DSA image series. A final DSA image (2) is obtained by digital summation of DSA images (8, 9) of the inflow phase. The DSA images assigned to the start and the end of the inflow phase are determined by classification methods (20, 12), respectively, where the classification methods make classifications based on respective classifiers. An independent claim is also included for an X-ray system comprising an image display device.
