Patent Abstract

In an example, an optimized inverter switching arrangement to operate a system with an electric drive may include an inverter circuit as a two-level inverter, which couples an alternating signal connection and a direct signal connection of the switching arrangement to each other. The inverter circuit may include at least two phases, which are each equipped with first switching elements as a half bridge. At least one second switching element is associated with each of the phases to form a hybrid circuit. The first and second switching elements differ in their semiconductor technology. By a control circuit, the inverter circuit may be operated in a short circuit operation to perform an active short circuit in case of a fault. The control circuit may control the first and second switching elements such that the alternating signal connection is short-circuited by each phase.
