Method and Device for the Production of Heavy-Duty Plastic Molded Parts with a Hollow Profile
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention introduces a method and device for manufacturing heavy-duty plastic molded parts with a hollow profile—such as separation cans or containment shells for pumps—using a specialized mold. The process involves placing a reinforcement made of continuous fibers onto a mold core and then injecting plastic material radially to fully embed the reinforcement within the part. The system allows for seamless, efficient, and integrated production of strong, lightweight hollow plastic components in a single manufacturing step.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Production of high-strength containment shells (cans) and separation tubes for pumps, especially for chemical or heating pumps.
- Manufacturing of hollow, fiber-reinforced plastic components in automotive, aerospace, chemical, and industrial machinery sectors.
- Creation of lightweight and durable structural tubes, pipes, or pressure vessels requiring resistance to chemicals, pressure, or heat.
- Production of pump components demanding electrically insulating barrier layers with high mechanical integrity.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Allows one-step, efficient manufacturing of high-strength, hollow, fiber-reinforced plastic parts, reducing production time and costs versus traditional multi-stage processes.
- Results in components with superior mechanical strength, stiffness, and lower wall thickness, enabling lighter and more space-efficient designs.
- Improves consistency and reliability in part quality by minimizing human error and combining reinforcement and molding into a single cycle.
- Enables use of both thermoplastic and thermoset plastics, providing flexibility for various application needs such as chemical resistance or high temperature stability.
- Can be implemented on standard injection molding equipment, reducing the need for special machinery and lowering capital investment.

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to a method and a device for the production of heavy-duty plastic molded parts with a hollow profile, particularly separation cans or containment shells for pumps, in a mold tool (1), having at least one first and one second tool part (2, 3), wherein at least one tool part (2, 3) is moved relative to the other part (2, 3) to open and close the mold tool (1). A longitudinal cavity (10) is constructed in the first tool part (2), a longitudinal mold core (4) of the second tool part (3) being inserted into said cavity coaxially, forming a cavity (15) which corresponds to the hollow profile. As part of this process, initially a reinforcement means (20) made of continuous fibers is applied to the mold core (4). Finally, the mold tool (1) carries out an opening or closing movement (A, B), during which a plastics molding material is continuously injected into the cavity through an injection opening or openings (8) which extend(s) radially along the periphery of said cavity (15), the material completely enclosing the reinforcement means (20).
