Device for Determining Relative Eye Temperature
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This invention introduces a device for contactless measurement of eye temperature and body temperature, and then calculates the relative eye temperature by forming a quotient or difference between the two values. The system uses infrared sensors, often mounted on a spectacles-like frame, to non-invasively measure temperatures, with the processing unit comparing results to stored data for potential disease diagnosis. The core novelty is the correlation between eye temperature (especially at the pupil) and overall body temperature to detect diseases and degenerations, improving diagnostic reliability.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Routine screening for ocular, neurological, vascular, and systemic diseases in clinics or hospitals
- Early detection of eye-related conditions such as glaucoma, optic neuropathy, and vascular occlusions
- Monitoring disease progression or therapeutic responses in chronic patients
- Screening large populations quickly in public health settings
- Remote diagnostics or telemedicine for eye and systemic health
- Integration into ophthalmological diagnostic equipment for enhanced examination
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Contactless, non-invasive measurement reduces risk of infection and injury
- Quick and easy to use, allowing rapid screening of many patients
- Improved diagnostic accuracy by correlating eye temperature with body temperature
- Can detect a range of diseases, including neurological, ocular, and systemic conditions
- Suitable for both stationary and mobile (wearable) use
- Potential for wireless data transmission, facilitating telemedicine and electronic health records
- Minimizes patient discomfort compared to intraocular or contact measurement methods
- Highly reproducible results by precisely targeting the pupil area

Patent Abstract
The invention relates to an apparatus for determining relative eye temperature, comprising: an eye temperature measurement device (1) for contactless measurement of the eye temperature of at least one eye and for transmitting at least one measured eye temperature value to a data processing device (2); a body temperature measurement device (3) for measuring the body temperature and for transmitting at least one measured body temperature value to the data processing device (2); and a data processing device (2) for capturing and processing the at least one eye temperature value and the at least one body temperature value, wherein the data processing device is arranged such that a quotient Q and/or a difference between the at least one eye temperature value and the at least one body temperature value is generated and displayed.
