Method for processing image data of e.g. head of patient, involves determining common probability distribution of image data values, and determining two image data changed using common probability distribution
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a method for processing two sets of medical image data, such as head scans of a patient. It determines a common probability distribution for the image data values and uses this to transform the image datasets accordingly. This technique is particularly relevant in computed tomography (CT), where images are captured during the rotation of X-ray sources around the patient.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Improving the consistency and quality of medical images from CT scans.
- Enabling better comparison between different sets of CT scan data for diagnosis or monitoring tumor progression.
- Reducing artifacts or inconsistencies in images taken during multiple scan sessions.
- Integration into advanced medical imaging software for hospitals or clinics.
- Enhancing data processing for research or development of new radiology tools.
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Improves the accuracy and reliability of medical image data analysis.
- Helps clinicians make better diagnoses by providing more consistent image datasets.
- Facilitates easier and more precise longitudinal studies of disease progression.
- Can be embedded in computers and software systems currently used in medical facilities with minimal disruption.
- Supports automation and standardization in medical image processing workflows.

Patent Abstract
The method involves providing two sets of image data of an investigation object i.e. patient, with respective image data values of the investigation object. A common probability distribution (P) of the image data values is determined from the provided image data. The two image data changed using the common probability distribution are determined. Two measuring data sets are reconstructed from the respective image data. The data sets are detected during rotary movement of radiation sources i.e. X-ray sources (C2, C4), of a computed tomography system (C1). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a control and computing unit comprising a program memory (2) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for performing a method for processing image data of an investigation object (3) a computer program product for performing a method for processing image data of an investigation object.
