Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention relates to a modular kit for constructing the body-shell structure of rail vehicles. The kit includes specially designed upper and lower beams (chords), cross beams, vertical columns, window rails, and front/rear modules that fit together using standardized sheet-metal joints. Most components are designed with uniform profile shapes and cross-sections, allowing for easy assembly and significant flexibility in constructing rail vehicle bodies of varying sizes and configurations.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Assembly of various types of rail vehicles, including passenger trains, trams, and subway cars
  • Customization and rapid prototyping of new rail vehicle models for different customer requirements
  • Repair and upgrade of existing rail vehicle bodies using standardized modules and joints
  • Manufacture of lightweight and strong space-frame structures for transportation vehicles
  • Adaptation of car body-shells to different vehicle lengths and widths with minimal redesign

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Substantially reduces development and production time thanks to modular and standardized elements
  • Lowers manufacturing costs by minimizing the number of unique parts and streamlining production processes
  • Improves product safety and consistency due to repeatable designs and reduced manual craftsmanship
  • Allows for flexible vehicle design and easy adaptation to customer-specific requirements
  • Simplifies logistics, production, and spare part management by using a limited set of profiles and joints
  • Facilitates efficient repairs and upgrades, as modules and joints are easily replaceable

Patent Abstract

An embodiment of the present invention discloses a kit for a body-shell structure of a rail vehicle, including a carrier structure with at least two upper belts and a plurality of roof cross members for the roof region of the space frame, at least two lower belts and a plurality of bottom cross members for a bottom region of the body, a plurality of columns running perpendicular and a plurality of window belts for side regions of the body. An embodiment of the present invention further includes at least one head module, wherein the shell structure has a modular design. The upper belts and the lower belts are connected via knots to adjoining cross members, perpendicular columns and/or window belts, wherein the upper belts and the lower belts have a uniform profile cross-section and the knots are at least partially of uniform design.
