Tool for Use in Aluminum Casting
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
The invention relates to a tool for use in aluminum casting, consisting of a special steel whose phases transform during cooling to improve properties. The tool's surface is coated with a crystalline diamond layer, produced by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), over an intermediate layer made from a nitride or carbide of a refractory metal or from silicon. This combination enhances the tool's performance in aluminum casting processes.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Molds or dies used in aluminum casting foundries
- Casting tools requiring high wear resistance
- Tools and tooling for mass production of aluminum parts in the automotive or aerospace industries
- Metalworking tools that demand robust and durable surfaces
- Applications involving frequent casting cycles with molten aluminum
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Greatly improved wear resistance due to the diamond surface coating
- Extended tool lifespan and reduced need for frequent replacement
- Enhanced surface hardness and thermal stability
- Lower maintenance costs and downtime for casting operations

Patent Abstract
