Imaging Device and Imaging Method for Detection of Irregularities in Cavities of Objects
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
The patent describes an imaging device and method designed to detect and precisely relocate irregularities, such as lesions or defects, inside hollow spaces of objects. It uses imaging sensors combined with a position measuring system that records the location data when an irregularity is found. This allows users to easily and accurately return to the same spot for further analysis, using comparison and tracking of stored and current sensor positions. The system is suitable for both medical applications, such as colonoscopies, and technical inspections of difficult-to-access internal spaces.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Medical diagnostics, especially in endoscopy (e.g., for detecting and monitoring lesions or polyps in the colon, bladder, lungs, etc.)
- Industrial inspection of internal cavities in machines, pipes, or structural components to locate and monitor defects over time
- Quality assurance tasks in manufacturing processes that require repeated access to identified problem sites inside products
- Documentation and monitoring of changes in detected irregularities during follow-up medical procedures
- Automated search and identification of defects via capsules or probes in inaccessible spaces
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Enables highly accurate and repeatable relocation of previously found irregularities, making follow-up inspections more efficient and reliable
- Reduces time and effort in searching for known problem areas, saving resources and improving workflow
- Improves documentation and standardization of findings, supporting better comparative diagnostics and long-term monitoring
- Supports both automated and manual detection of irregularities, increasing flexibility and usability in different settings
- Enables adjustment for object movement or deformation, resulting in more reliable positioning even if the object’s shape or orientation changes between examinations
- Facilitates better visualization and guidance to target locations, enhancing user experience and reducing the risk of missing irregularities

Patent Abstract
In an imaging device (1), target position data (P(Z)), which were determined when the irregularity was located for the first time by a position measuring device (10), are stored in order to allow the easy retrieval of an irregularity of an object that is to be analyzed. When retrieving the irregularity, a comparison of the stored target position data (P(Z)) to the currently determined position data (P) of the imaging sensor (5) is conducted by means of a comparison unit (21).
