Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This invention relates to an electric lamp socket, particularly for motor vehicles, where the socket features a contact element partially embedded within a plastic body. The special plastic is rendered electrically conductive by the inclusion of metallic or conductive additives, improving the electrical properties and design flexibility of the socket.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Automobiles: Used as lamp sockets in vehicle headlights and taillights
  • Consumer electronics: Electrical sockets for lamp connections
  • Industrial lighting: Modular lighting systems requiring robust and reliable lamp connections
  • Household lighting: Advanced lamp sockets in home lighting fixtures

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Enhanced electrical conductivity due to conductive plastic additives
  • Reduced production costs from using plastic with metal additives instead of entirely metal components
  • Improved design flexibility and form factor customizability
  • Potentially lighter and more durable compared to traditional all-metal designs
  • Manufacturing methods enable strong bonding and embedded contacts for reliable electrical connections

Patent Abstract

The socket (2) has a contact element (10) arranged in a housing made of insulating material. An electrical conductor is electrically connected to a side of the contact element, where a power consumer is connected to another end of the element. The element has two parts that are separated from each other and are embedded in a body made of plastic e.g. thermoplastic or polyamide. The parts project from the body, which is electrically conductive by electrically conductive additives having copper, aluminum, steel or aluminum oxide. The contact element is made of metal, and is coated with adhesive. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a lamp socket for an electric lamp.
