Recording device for recording a blood count parameter
Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
This patent describes a non-invasive device and method for measuring certain blood parameters, such as blood glucose, within a blood vessel without the need for drawing blood. The device uses microwaves at different frequencies to transmit signals into a blood vessel, measures how much signal is lost at each frequency, and calculates a relaxation time constant of blood components. From this value, it can reliably determine blood parameters like glucose, lactate, or oxygen concentrations. The system can continuously monitor blood, for example via a wearable arm band, and can communicate results wirelessly.
Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Non-invasive, continuous blood glucose monitoring for diabetic patients
- Remote patient monitoring in telemedicine applications
- Continuous tracking of blood oxygen or lactate for athletes or critical care patients
- User-friendly home health monitoring for chronic diseases
- Integration into wearable health devices (e.g. smart armbands or watches)
- Hospital bedside monitoring systems for critical care
- Automatic detection and alerting of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia events in real-time
BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.
- Eliminates the need for invasive blood draws, reducing pain and infection risk
- Enables continuous, real-time blood monitoring, improving disease management and outcomes
- Offers higher accuracy compared to current non-invasive methods by targeting venous blood and using advanced loss detection techniques
- Can be integrated into wearable forms, making long-term and user-friendly monitoring possible
- Facilitates rapid response to dangerous changes in blood parameters (e.g. hypo-/hyperglycemia)
- Supports remote and telemedicine healthcare by providing wireless communication of measured values
- Reduces dependence on single-use consumables like test strips, lowering long-term costs
- Potential to monitor different blood analytes (glucose, lactate, oxygen) with the same device

Patent Abstract
The recording device (100) comprises a transmitter (101), which is designed to couple into blood vessel to generate two transmission signals with different frequencies. A receiver (105) is configured to receive the transmission signals with different frequencies. A loss detector (107) is formed to determine a loss size on the basis of the former transmission signal and another loss size on the base of the latter transmission signal. A processor (109) is formed to relaxation time constant of the blood component. An independent claim is also included for a method for recording a blood count parameter in a blood vessel.
