Berty-Reaktor (1) umfassend ein Gehäuse (2) mit einem Aufnahmeraum (4), in dem unter Ausbildung eines Spaltraums (7) zum Gehäuse (2) ein von einer Eintrittsseite (51) zu einer Austrittsseite (54) in axialer Richtung durchströmbarer Katalysatorkorb (5) eingebracht ist, eine in den Aufnahmeraum (4) im Bereich der Eintrittsseite (51) des Katalysatorkorbs (5) mündende Zuführleitung (12), eine im Aufnahmeraum (4) angeordnete Strömungsmaschine (9) zur Erzeugung eines Gasumwälzstroms im Spaltraum (7) zwischen der Austritts- und der Eintrittsseite (51, 54) des Katalysatorkorbs (5), und eine im Bereich der Austrittsseite (54) des Katalysatorkorbs (5) entspringende Entnahmeleitung (15), dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Strömungsmaschine (9) ein an der Austrittsseite (54) des Katalysatorkorbs (59 in den Aufnahmeraum (4) ragendes, direkt angetriebenes Laufrad (8) umfasst.
