Simple SummaryContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

This patent describes a method to study how bone in reindeer antlers reacts to implants by inserting an implant into the antler, applying controlled mechanical forces to it using a special device, and then removing and examining the affected antler area. The process allows the evaluation of how bone tissue changes around an implant under variable loading conditions.

Use CasesContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Testing the safety and efficacy of new implant materials or designs before human use
  • Studying bone regeneration and tissue integration with various medical implants
  • Developing better orthopedic or dental implants by observing bone responses in a live animal model
  • Understanding bone remodeling processes under mechanical loading
  • Evaluating different force applications on implant integration and stability

BenefitsContent extracted from patent full text and abstract with AI.

  • Provides a living model to observe real-time bone changes around implants
  • Enables controlled mechanical loading to simulate real-life conditions
  • Helps in optimizing implant design and material for better integration
  • Reduces risks in human trials by offering a robust pre-clinical testing approach
  • Facilitates the development of safer, more effective medical implants

Patent Abstract

The method involves inserting an implant in an antler of an antler carrying animal e.g. reindeer. The implants are mechanically loaded over a defined time through defined variable forces, which are exerted by a load exerting device attached at the antler. The antler area, which contains the implant is removed. The removed antler area is examined. The exposure takes place axially and/or unaxially with a force upto five hundred Newton. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a load exerting device for loading implants (2) an animal model for examining implants (3) an utilization of animal models for examining bone changes in the surrounding of the implants.
